Shrove Tuesday 2011
Posted March 29th, 2011

HRH The Princess Royal was sworn in as an Honorary Member of The York Butchers Gild on Shrove Tuesday.
New Master, Ian Kelly, presented her with a framed membership scroll, a specially commissioned leather bound book on the company history and a donation to Farms for City Children, her nominated charity whilst Master of The Worshipful Company of Butchers.
Afterwards she circulated and met many members and their guests, 168 in total, before attending the traditional feast of a Baron of Beef in the Great Hall of the Merchant Adventurers Hall in York.

A more extensive collection of photographs (in a pdf document) is available by contacting Ed Wright at ed@edwright.co.uk, who can then produce prints for you, all proceeds to the Gild Charitable Fund.

Shrove Tuesday Website launch!
Posted February 5th, 2008
We are proud the announce the launch of the first website of the York Butchers' Gild (www.yorkbutchersgild.co.uk). The website sub-committee has endeavoured to produce a simple and effective site to communicate the history of the Gild and its important role in York life to both Gild members and the general public.
Over the coming year we intend to expand the website to include more articles and images about the Gild, as well as creating a dedicated Gild Members' Area.
We hope you enjoy using and exploring the website. Any comments and suggestions regarding content should be directed to Roger Pearce via The Clerk. Any technical queries or problems should be directed to Ed Wright.
