Mr Neil P Stobart
Master 2008 – 2009
Neil was born in Bradford in 1960 and educated at Rishworth School near Halifax. His vocational training began in 1977 when he attended Smithfield College in London to study Meat Technology, spells working on a pitch as a trainee salesman at Smithfield Market and in Dewhirst and Tesco meat departments followed.
Neil then returned to Yorkshire and took up a place with the family business, Stobarts Bradford Ltd. where he has worked since.
Starting as a shop man/cutter, Neil has a wide experience of retail butchery, the catering side of the business and is now joint managing director with special responsibilities for production at the companies manufactured meat products factory in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The company now focuses its efforts producing pork pies, sausages, sausage rolls, steak pies and lots of other savouries for the national and local markets.
Neil joined the Company of Butchers of York in 1990. His father was master in 1995 and he follows his brother Philip who was master last year.
Neil lives with his daughter Emma-Jade who is currently reading law at Leeds Metropolitan University and with his partner Agnieszka who also works for the company.
Outside work Neil enjoys hill walking and generally keeping fit and trying to combine these interests in activity holidays.
